Assembly & hanging guide

Thanks for ordering from Swings from Heaven. Phoenix and Maricopa County orders arrive fully assembled — you only need to hang it. Nationwide orders ship as a ready-to-assemble kit. Follow the steps below and you'll be swinging the same day.

1. Unbox and inventory

  • Open the box on a flat surface and lay all parts out.
  • Confirm: seat frame, back frame, armrests, slats, hardware bag, rope set.
  • Wipe any shipping dust off with a dry cloth before assembly.

2. Tools you'll need

  • Cordless drill or screwdriver (Phillips + hex bit)
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Tape measure and pencil
  • Stud finder (for ceiling hanging)
  • Ladder

3. Build the swing

  1. Attach the back frame to the seat frame using the pre-drilled bolts. Hand-tight first.
  2. Slide armrests into place and secure with the included lag screws.
  3. Lay the slats across the seat and back; drive the finish screws into the marked pilot holes.
  4. Once everything is aligned, tighten all bolts fully with the wrench.

4. Hang it safely

  1. Locate a ceiling joist or solid beam — the mounting point must support at least 500 lbs per hook.
  2. Install the heavy-duty eye bolts directly into the joist (not just drywall).
  3. Attach the rope or chain so the seat sits 17–19 inches off the deck and hangs with a slight backward tilt for comfort.
  4. Leave at least 4 feet of clearance in front and behind for swinging.
  5. Sit gently the first time and re-check all hardware after 24 hours of use.

5. Care & keep

  • Wipe down with mild soap and water; avoid pressure washers.
  • Re-tighten hardware every 3–6 months.
  • Store cushions indoors during monsoon season to extend life.
